About the Director: Dr. Xia Cheng, Ph.D, MD (China), R.Ac, DTCM,

Dr. Xia Cheng

Dr. Xia Cheng received a Ph.D in medicine 1990 at Chengdu University of TCM after 11 years of study in three TCM universities in China. During that period of time, she studied both western and Chinese medicine. Her study and research focus was in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine treating digestive and neurological diseases. While her personal interest is in medicine for children and women’s health, she is the vice-prisident of the Paediatrics Speciality Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Society. she also sees patients as a Chinese medicine general practitioner. She has practiced as an acupuncturist, herbalist and TCM physician since 1983, and became an associate professor at the Beijing Union University of TCM in 1994. She established BodyMind Synergy Health Center in 2001 and founded Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2004 to fulfill her dream of sharing and passing on her knowledge and expertise, and the treasure of TCM with the general public and new generations of TCM practitioners.

We help anyone who is seeking a holistic, natural treatment and searches for optimal physical and spiritual energy. Our goal is to not only to restore health, but to promote and maintain wellness.

Our Team:

Practitioners of BodyMind Synergy Health Center are joined with professors, experts and instructors who come from China and overseas and currently working at Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They all have high educational backgrounds and hold Doctorate’s and Master’s Degrees in medicine. They have years of clinical experience and specialized in certain fields, such as digestive disorders, neurological disorders, women and children’s health, weight loss, infertility, sports injury and rehabilitation as well as insomnia, eye diseases.

Our team is committed to provide the top level of assessment and treatment; and to bring optimum health both physically and spiritually to you, your family and friends.


Dr. Shiwu Xiao,  TCMD,MD (China), Associate Professor, M.Sc, RAc

Dr.Shiwu Xiao

Dr. Xiao is from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. He worked as Associate professor and Chief physician in Internal Medicine & Pediatric Department. He received his Masters degree after eight years systematically study TCM and Western Medicine in 1988.

Dr.Xiao has more than 20 years hospital and clinical experience as well as teaching experience. He also worked as visiting professor in Israel for 10 years. Dr. Yi Fu Visiting Professor D.T.C.M., Ph.D. Medicine

Dr. Yi FuDr. Fu earned his doctor degree of TCM in 2005 from the Chengdu TCM University with a specialty in acupuncture. Dr. Fu also practices wrist and ankle acupuncture, massage and reflexology.

Dr. Fu also followed several famous doctors, one of whom is the descendant of the imperial doctor of the Qing Dynasty and now he is very experienced in treating weight loss, rheumatism, facial paralysis, cervical and lumber problems, frozen shoulder, insomnia, disordered menstruation and acne. more…


Dr. Hubert Shuo Zhang, TCMD, M.D.(China), Ph.D., Visiting Professor

Dr. Yi FuDr. Zhang is from Medical College of Tsingtao University, where he works as a pharmacologist, TCM physician and senior instructor directing Chinese & international students. In 1994, he began with his 11 years systematic study of TCM and western medicine in Chengdu University of TCM. His undergraduate major is clinical TCM with specialty in Otorhinolaryngology and Ophthalmology of TCM. He earned his Master’s Degree in TCM ophthalmology in 2002 and his Medical Doctorate Degree in pharmacology of Chinese materia medica in 2005. Imran Khaliq, M.D., M.B.B.S.

Dr. Imran Khaliq earned his bachelor of medicine/bachelor of surgery in 1989 at the University of Karachi (Sindh Medical College) and is currently working toward his masters and Ph.D. in medical education at the University of Calgary. He was also an associate eye surgeon at the Maqbool Eye Clinic in Karachi, Pakistan for 7 years.
Dr. Khaliq is a dedicated professional surgeon and a teacher with more than 6 years experience as a teacher and coordinator in the department of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathology and basic medical sciences.    more…


Ivy Juan Wang, MSc. TCM

Dr. Ivy Juan WangDr. Wang received her Master’s Degree of TCM from the Chengdu University of TCM in China. Dr. Wang is specialized in using acupuncture and moxibustion to treat gynecological and pain syndrome such as infertility, premature ovarian failure, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrheal, PMS, menopause; arthritis, herniated discs, frozen shoulder.
She has followed two very famous specialists for a period of two years in China. One is an professor in gynecology and the other one is good at using the ancient traditional acupuncture needling methods to treat stubborn diseases. more…
